WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
Our Goal
A WNY where households flourish through consistent, livable-wage employment.
The Need
Underemployment, unemployment, and limited access to livable-wage opportunities prevent many families in Buffalo and Niagara Falls from achieving long-term stability.
-
Niagara Falls: Nearly 50% of residents live in or near poverty, a 23% increase since 2010. Poverty is concentrated in neighborhoods like Highland, Hyde Park, and LaSalle, where access to jobs, education, and transportation is limited.
-
Buffalo: Poverty rates remain above 30%, reflecting persistent underemployment and limited access to livable-wage jobs.
-
Limited transportation and fragmented training opportunities restrict access to stable employment.
-
Workforce training aligned with healthcare, manufacturing, and skilled trades is critical to bridging the skills gap.

Provide job readiness and soft-skills training
